Description Current regional GVA data is derived from ONS via a ‘top-​down’ method. This means that it does not provide a complete picture of the actual productivity performance of firms within the region. A gap exists to draw together data sources that provide GVA data from firms themselves. A new project is in the process of being commissioned which will provide an opportunity to derive data via ONS firm level data. This will improve both the accuracy and efficacy of regional GVA data for use in productivity analysis.
