This report explains the significance of green spaces to the West Midlands and the challenges they face. This is achieved by considering: the definition of green space,the role of green space in contributing to regeneration and liveability, the national, regional and local challenges of maintainig green spaces, the omission of green space issues from regional policy, the limited funding for green space projects, and the role of green space in 'place-​making'.
