The economic impact of migrant workers in the West Midlands: Full report
Report
2007-05-15
This is the final report from the large scale research project to understand aspects of the economic impact of migrant workers in the West Midlands. It examines the scale and nature of migrant employment since 2002 in the West Midlands and identifies which sectors and occupations have been most effected, as well as examining issues such as duration of stay, skill levels, housing and household size. Results are given regionally and sub regionally, where available. Implications for policy are examined and presented. Analysis is carried out using existing administrative data, such as national insurance registrations, work permits and the labour force survey, but most of the analysis is on the basis of extensive fieldwork and data collection carried out in the region in the spring and summer of 2007.
