The Economy & Labour Force group gives the Observatory an understanding of the information needs of the region related to the economy and labour market.
How is the group made up?
The group draws together data analysts, researchers and academics from across the West Midlands and from a variety of organisations, including local authorities, universities and government office, amongst others.
What does the group do?
The group seeks to to identify the right facts, figures and statistics to encourage evidence based policy within the West Midlands, particularly focussed on the economy and labour market. This involves ensuring research consistency and best practice, undertaking specific pieces of work to fill 'knowledge gaps' and improving the communication and use of evidence within the region.
What's the bigger picture?
Through the Regional Data and Intelligence Network, the group draws in the wider perspectives of the region and links to a range of other groups focussing on the environment, population and society and geographical information. Together these groups influence the work of the Observatory and guide the services it offers.
