Data on business ownership by ethnic minority is not generally available. However, the UK 2008 Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) contains some information on enterprise by ethnicity.
Figures 9 and 10 on page 19 show entreneurial activity by broad ethnic group and for UK-born immigrants, but this data is for the UK as a whole rather than the West Midlands.
Also, Fig. 9 on page 33 gives information on business ownership by ethnic group for the UK.
Last year, Advantage West Midlands paid for GEM to boost their sample for the West Midlands to get more regional data on entrepreneurial activity, available to download below. Refer to page 37 for information on entrepreneurial by ethnicity in the West Midlands.
Advantage West Midlands has recently set up a programme to build capacity in BME third sector organisations.
