Experian keeps a corporate researcher database of individual firms, which you can pay to access. You would need to contact Experian directly to arrange this.
UK Business: Activity, Size and Location (PDF, 2.5mb) is produced by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and provides a useful overview of busines activity in the UK, down to Local Authority level. It contains information on the number of businesses by Local Authority, sector, turnover band and employment size, and is based on the results of the Inter-departmental Business Register (IDBR). Data from the IDBR can be accessed at neighbourhood level. This must be purchased from the ONS IDBR team.
The Annual Business Inquiry (ABI) is an employer survey which also provides information on the number of businesses and employees by sector down to neighbourhood level. You need a license to access ABI data, but we can source this on your behalf.
