We normally source occupational data from the Annual Population Survey (APS). However, the occupations listed are generalised and the APS doesn't provide data for accountants or HR professionals specifically.
Labour Force Survey data shows that there were 13,200 HR professionals (9.7% share of HR professionals nationally) and 20,100 accountants (10.2% share of accountants nationally) residing in the West Midlands, between January to March 2009.
In addition, Higher Education Statistics Authority data shows that there were 2,200 people studying accountancy and 1,500 people studying human resources management at under-graduate or post-graduate level at West Midlands institutions in 2007/08.
