Business demography: enterprise births and deaths offers a range of information on enterprise which is mostly available by region and local authority. It includes indicators such as number of new enterprises, number of enterprise deaths, and enterprise survival rates by number of years.
VAT registrations and de-registrations also give an indication of new business startups. They are available by local authority and are published annually.
The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor also produces annual reports on entrepreneurial activity in the UK such as the entrepreneurial activity rate, and entrepreneurial activity by gender and ethnicity. Some of this data is available regionally.
