Presenting statistics

This seminar was held at the Observatory on 26 July 2006.

From data to meaningful information

Ed Swires-Hennessy, Head of Sample Surveys, Local Government Data Unit, Wales

This presentation set the collection and use of information into the context of a regional observatory (or any organisation!).

The basic principles of use of data in tables, charts, maps and text was demonstrated along with some illustrations of inappropriate use of data. Linked to this was the user perception of what we present so that, by matching the two approaches, a clear and understandable message can be presented.
