We drew on a range of enterprise statistics to give a more complete view of how the West Midlands performs under these indicators.
Explaining the indicators
Our explanatory paper (pdf, 162kb) helps interpret the indicators, with definitions used and limitations of the data. There's also discussion of the topics not covered in the dashboard and the reasons why.
Business demography
Six of the dashboard indicators use Office for National Statistics' business demography data. As this is such a rich source of information, and the dashboard doesn't make use of the time series data, we produced a business demography supplement (pdf, 120kb). This shows longitudinal performance of some of the indicators and disaggregation between local authorities.
