Knowledge Management

Knowledge management (or KM as it is usually called) is the discipline of organising yourself, your staff and your organisation so that you create knowledge faster and use it better than you have done in the past.

It's taken many big companies by storm and has been grabbing the attention of the public and voluntary sectors.

Here at the Observatory we believe that KM has tremendous potential to improve our efficiency, to help our partners with their work and to lift the whole West Midlands Region to a new level of effectiveness and success.

We've put the following pages together to help you understand the basics of KM and give ideas, support and resources to help you adopt it.

Our vision

"Our vision is for modern knowledge management, practiced at all levels and by all people, to contribute to the West Midlands becoming a world class region.

Knowledge management will deliver outstanding collaboration and partnership working. It will ensure the region maximizes the value of its information and knowledge assets and it will help its citizens to use their creativity and skills better, leading to improved effectiveness and greater innovation."
